Uterus Removal Surgery
A hysterectomy is a type of surgical process where the uterus (womb) gets removed. The woman will not be able to get pregnant after surgery. Even if you haven’t passed the menopause, you won’t get your period regardless of your age. It can be used to treat many chronic pain conditions, cancer, and infections. After a hysterectomy, menstruation ceases.
The hysterectomy is described as the surgical removal of the uterus. The hysterectomy surgery is performed for various reasons and may involve removing other organs and tissues such as ovaries and fallopian tubes. It is further divided into partial hysterectomy, which removes the uterus, and total hysterectomy, which removes the uterus together.
In Partial Hysterectomy, a portion of the uterus is removed and may leave the cervix intact. When it comes to a total hysterectomy, the doctor removes the entire uterus along with the cervix. Hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy – In this operation, doctors remove the uterus and/or the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Robotic hysterectomy may be recommended if the surgeon determines that the patient is not suitable for vaginal hysterectomy based on the medical history provided. During a robotic vaginal hysterectomy, the patient must be given general anesthesia to avoid waking up during the procedure. Depending on the patient’s condition, the surgeon may also remove the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or both.
