The only thing you need is to have the approval of a registered medical practitioner (RMP) so that you can proceed with the abortion in the first 3 months. After 3 months you need the approval of two RMPs. If you get the MTP done within the first 7 weeks following your last period, you might get a medical miscarriage done by prescribing some sort of medications by the gynecologist ensuring that the abortion would be successful. In this case, no surgery is required. If the 7-week deadline has expired, donโ€™t be worried. MTPs are legal in India up to the first 20 weeks and abortion via surgery can be performed under anesthesia.
